What is mentoring?

A matter of trust. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. A mentor is an adult who, along with parents (foster parents or guardians), provides a young person with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive example.

Is Mentoring Biblical?

There are many examples of mentoring in the Bible and much has been written about the spiritual aspects of mentoring in Christian books. For example, 1 Thessalonians 1:5-7 and 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12 was written by the Apostle Paul, who was himself mentored by Barnabas and was a mentor to Timothy.

What’s so special about Foster Heart Link Mentoring?

The ministry specifically targets its ministry to foster children in Pinellas County. This may include children who are in the process of being adopted. Foster Heart Link Mentoring is an Ephesians 4 kind of ministry (Unity in the body of Christ and living as children of light). We want to encourage you to connect with other mentors, your leaders, and your community as you mentor.
